About Me Here I am, over there on the right. That's the way I looked when I wrote TechTalk for The Journal of Commerce and the way I prefer to be remembered. Those days are gone now and TechTalk has found a home with The Scripps-Howard News Service. Truthfully, thanks to the folks at Scripps-Howard, people have been taking my name in vain throughout the U.S. and Canada, including the wide-open spaces of Oklahoma, Utah and Texas. I've been dabbling in journalism for more than 30 years, moving from paper to paper, beginning with a stint at The Hartford Courant when I was wet behind the ears and ready to show the world what I could do. I know better now. TechTalk was created in 1993 when an editor at The Journal of Commerce dared me to write a better column dealing with the Internet than he did. That dare evolved into a weekly diatribe dealing with everything about computers that intrigued or plagued me -- a policy that still holds true. I've been known to tear computers apart to see what makes them tick and have built more of these one-eyed monsters than I care to admit. I can also be seen pulling cards, memory or drives from my computer on a daily basis. In fact, you could say that I spend half my existence "under the hood".
