I knew this was coming. I saw the signs --- the frizzy hair, erratic
movements, too much caffeine --- but I didn't expect it would happen
this soon!
Dave has finally gone off the deep end, obsessed with his inferiority
to me and jealous of my superior intellect. But he does make a good
point, although the putz has also given away a trade secret.
The folks at http://www.dejanews.com
have developed what has become the greatest resource for solving
even the most intricate problem. And I know, for a fact, that Unscrupulous
Dave uses that site often to make himself sound like a genius when
answering readers' questions either by email
or through our TechBoard.
We receive tons of email from visitors to our web site or readers
of my TechTalk column, turning to us for help with with their computers
when all seems bleak. And, thanks to Dejanews, we've been able to
help them.
But there are also other sources that may help.
A quick call to a company's technical support folks can often resolve
a problem, although, more times than not, I've found many of my
dealings with these folks exasperating.
You can also search the Web for answers. Although Dejanews is a
great site, there may be a source that is more dedicated to your
software or hardware that can help.
You can even bug the hell out of your company's technical support
personnel --- at least until they start walking the other way when
they see you coming.
Or, you can turn to us. The TechBoard
is there for you to use, whether you have a computer problem or
just want to rant about issues involving the one-eyed monsters.
We monitor it regularly and try to respond to everyone that posts
a message. And there's always a possibility that someone more knowlegable
than us may reply.
Well, pardon me while I finish wrapping this bottle of Low-Cal
Shampoo that I'm sending off to my fathead, frizzy-haired offspring.
Seems he's out of it!

I know what you're thinking. You're thinking "This
latest Berman vs. Berman article must be about Mike being beyond
help. It can't be about Dave. Dave's too sophisticated, suave and
debonaire. I love Dave.".
Not true JOCGEEK.COM readers! While I am sophisticated, suave, debonaire
and loved, this article isn't about Mike being beyond help. Even
though Mike IS beyond help, I'm not going to harp on it. Mike's
beyond help.

problem full of lead and bury it. I'm kidding Mike -- honest.
Because of the nature of the business I'm in, I work with some very
knowledgable people in regard to various aspects of computers and
programming. Mike's beyond help. And
while a few are familiar with the internals of a Porsche, I wouldn't
trust them with a wrench.
Another option is to visit different technical boards on different
websites. Take our TechBoard
for example. Mike's beyond help. Mike's
beyond help. One user in particular asked about installing
games on Windows XP. It was a game I've never played and to find
the answer, I didn't need to know the full details. I can simply
search for certain keywords at http://www.dejanews.com
and hopefully get an answer and learn from another user's experience.
What does this all amount to? Mike's beyond
help. Another happy customer.
Being resourceful = success. I get a lot more credit than I deserve.
Even though I am one smart sonofabitch, Mike's
beyond help. I come across as being smarter thanks to tools
that allow me to find the answer to many questions fairly quickly.
So fire me your questions, post on our TechBoard,
give Mike a hard time -- do whatever you need to do. Just don't
hate me because I'm beautiful.
