Cyber soap opera
Isn't it ironic? We now have three of the major instigators of the Department
of Justice's suit against Microsoft Corp. climbing into bed together and
the threat of interference from federal regulators is a mere blip on our
radar screens.
For those of you who may have been in hibernation during the past week,
Steve Case and his America Online Goliath has swallowed up yet another
David -- Jim Barksdale's Netscape Corp.
Plus, there has been a side deal with Sun Microsystems, in which Sun
will help AOL enter the growing world of e-commerce and Sun's JAVA programming
language will be used to develop new AOL services for Internet devices
of the future.
America Online, which currently boasts a subscription base of 14 million
netizens, also hopes to gain
