Panasonic Clarifies the Clarity Issue with DECT 6.0 Phones

One of the biggest problems we run into with DECT 6.0 telephone systems is poor voice quality. And, when you're unable to clearly hear the guy on the other end of the line, it can make phone conversations a bit tedious.

Fortunately, the folks at Panasonic have overcome this problem with their KX-TG9381T 2-Line DECT 6.0 Expandable Digital Cordless Answering System ($169.95).

In addition to the improvements in clarity, this phone system uses Bluetooth technology that allows you to answer calls using any "paired" Bluetooth headset and copy the contact list from your cell or smartphone to the Panasonic system at the push of a button. It also comes with an additional wireless handset that can be set up as an extension anywhere in your home or office.

Other features include:

-- It's compatible with up to six handsets. Additional handsets for the system are available for $79.95.
-- It can handle two phone lines.
-- You get up to 12 hours of talk time from a single charge.
-- It stores up to 10 names and numbers in its "history" database, making it easy to retreive and/or return recent calls.
-- You can adjust the talk, speaker and ringer volumes.
-- It can handle up to a three-way conference call using two handsets.
-- It features a tone/melody/talking alarm clock.
-- It's wall-mountable.

Of course, as with all things, there are a few weeds in Panasonic's garden. The biggest is its incompatibility with the iPhone when using Bluetooth to copy contact lists. And, although it can "pair" with two separate Bluetooth headsets, you can only use one at a time.

In addition, the answering system cannot handle a high volume of calls. The limit is 40 minutes, which includes your outgoing message, incoming messages and memos. But users that are diligent about deleting messages after they've been heard shouldn't have a problem.
