Jubii is New Place to Hang Out on the Net

Jan Wergin wants you to be his guest and hang out with him. Just grab a seat, a tall cold one and stroll on over to, where you can chat with friends, share data, photos or multimedia presentations or just hang out for awhile.

Hoping to harness the evasive Web 2.0 protocol for the common man, Jubii's executive vice president has created a site in cyberspace that combines all the tools we use every day, allowing us to check our email, chat, make phone calls (using VoIP), manage and share files (without tying up email servers or instant messaging services) and even - - - eventually - - - registering domain names.

The theory behind all this is Wergin's aim to create a place for "people."

"We look at people first before looking at tech," Wergin said during a recent phone interview. "The object is to get people involved in all phases of the Web site."

Right now, anyone that signs up for Jubii, gets 10 gigabytes of storage space, 30 minutes of free VoIP per day and free access to all of its tools.

To take advantage of the free VoIP, all you need to do is type in the number of the phone you're using and the phone number you're dialing, both phones will ring, and voila, you're connected.

You can also combine and prioritize email adresses, combine IM services (AOL, ICQ, etc.), and prioritize contacts.

And the best thing is that there's nothing to download ot your PC. Everything is available through the Web site using a simple interface that gives you access to all the tools you need. You can even drag and drop files from folder to folder or from your PC to the Jubii server.
